The Bystander Moment Screening + Discussion

Date: June 13th, 2019

Time: 5:30 – 8:30PM

Where: Ken Edwards Center –  1527 4th Street, Santa Monica, CA, 90401

Activist and Scholar Jackson Katz, creator of Tough Guise and Wrestling with Manhood, does it again in challenging gender violence. The Bystander Effect, directed by Jeremy Earp, showcases effective models of gender violence prevention among young men by paying special attention to peer culture dynamics. The Bystander Effect emphasizes the crucial role of bystanders in challenging misogynistic cultural norms.

Local community leaders will be in attendance to discuss the realities and obstacles of changing cultural norms that lead to gender violence.

In honor of women’s history month, join us for a viewing and discussion of the documentary What Doesn’t Kill Me, directed by Rachel Meyrick. Take a look into how the US Court enables domestic violence by proxy against mothers by placing their children in the hands of batterers.
